What is it all about?

Word Picture Scrapping is where you create a layout by description only. You will rely on your your ability to interpret the written word. Creatitivity is the name of the game.

How to play;

Join us on the first Friday of the Month where we will put up a description of a layout.
Interpret the description as you like and create a page.
Send in an e-mail with a photo of your page by the last day of the month.
All pages will be uploaded and a winner will be picked by our team of judges in the following week. Winners will be announced by the 7th day of the following month.

Here is an example of how it is done;

Example Challenge;
For this example I will add comments in red to let you know some extra information - this will not be shown on the actual challenges when they start.

Suggested Material List
1 12x8 photo
1 cardstock
2 complementary pattern papers (can be 1 doubled sided pp that has two different patterns on it)
1 piece of note paper - for journaling
various flowers
flower centre embellishments- can be gems/pearls/buttons/sticker circles etc
photo corner - can be brads, chipboard, actual photo corner, ribbon etc
Alphas for title
Flourish - can be stamps, rubons, chipboards etc
ribbon
clip - can be paperclip, slide clip etc

Cut out a dinner plate sized circle out of patterned paper one. (I will only give you a rough size the actual size will be up to you)
Cut a 12 inch strip of patterned paper two. (Once again the size of the strip is up to you)
Off centre the circle patterned paper on your cardstock and stick it down. (Once again you choose which side)
Run the patterned paper strip along the bottom of the circle and stick it down. (Can be anywhere on the circle, you may run it along the bottom edge or have two cms of the circle showing under the strip.)
Place your photo on the side of the circle that is closest to the edge of the cardstock. Stick you photo down on an angle. Do not stick the centre edge of your photo down completely as you will need to slip hidden journaling in under the photo.
On the top corner of your photo that is closest to the edge of the cardstock place a photo corner. (You can do whatever you like for a photo corner - brads, ribbon, doodling, chipboard shapes, actual photo corners)
Using the half of you circle that is not covered by the photo as a guide place flowers in a complementary fashion - go up the edge of the circle and down and towards to photo. Once you are happy with the placement of the flowers stick them down. (You can stick them down however you like - machine stitch them, attach them with brads, glue them, however you like.)
Place some embellishments in the centre of the flowers. (Your choice)
On the cardstock and bottom corner of the photo that is closest to the edge of the cardstock put some flourishes. (Can be any flourish - stamped, rubons, chipboard, cut out patterned paper once again whatever suits your style of scrapping)
On your note paper attach a flower, some ribbon and the clip to the corner that will be sticking out from under your photo (Check which side you have left open under the photo for your hidden journaling)

Write your Journaling on your note paper and then place it under your photo.
Run your title over the top of your flowers and the bottom of your photo. (You can use what ever alphas you like - you need to make them suitable to go over the flowers and the photo - so rubons might not be suitable in this example - it is your call as to what you use.)
Decorate it. (At this stage you finish off the layout to make the page more "You")
E-mail it in to us.

Our sample layouts will not go up until after the directions have been up a week - that way we get to see how you interpret the directions and not use our layouts a visual aide.

For this first sample one we have uploaded a layout so that you can see how the word picture can be interpeted.

Precious Daughter by Tracey Campbell

So that is how Scrapping Word Picture works - it is easier to do than to describe and it is a lot of fun.

Cool idea - we do "Blind Scrapping" at the site I'm on DT for, which is essentially the same thing. It's lots of fun!
