Sami Cronin
We're posting a day early this month as I am moving house tomorrow! I will be back on air early next week (fingers crossed).

Good luck with your layouts everyone! You have until 31 January to complete the challenge and get your entries in. Don't forget to tell your friends!!

Are you ready for some more circle inspiration?!

For these examples I have used Chatterbox die cut circles which I have adhered directly to the page.

For the first, I have simply added some Making Memories chipboard buttons. I tied some cotton through them before I attached them to my page. I glued a couple down and used foam tape on one. Of course it wouldn't be complete without some Kaisercraft bling!

On the next example, I took a beautiful Heidi Swapp ghost butterfly shape and covered the back with crystal KindyGlitz. I have done this before using dimensional magic and then sprinkling glitter, which is another effective way of covering the shape. I've added some Kaisercraft jewels to the centre. This covers up the foam tape I have used to adhere to the page.

Voila! Two more examples to add to your collection of ideas. I hope they've been helpful!

More circle inspiration...

This circle has been created with one of Heidi Swapp's journalling blocks to which I have added a Heidi letter. It's a tad hard to see in the pics, but I've added some Kaisercraft jewels around the circle to bling it up! I've cut a circle using my trusty old pinking shears to give it a decorative edge. I've then used foam tape to mount the journalling block. It helps it stand out of the page. Voila! Another circle for our collection!

I hope you're enjoying doing this month's challenge and the techniques we are sharing with you. Please leave a comment and let us know what you think....

Another circle for our collection....

This one is super easy!I've raided my stash for circular things...and found this old metal rimmed tag. It has a transparent centre, but you could use one that's coloured. If you wanted the clear look, you could always cut out the centre using your craft knife.

I have then attached one of Heidi Swapp's new verb stickers which is perfect for my layout. You could use any type of sticker...doesn't have to be circular. Maybe a cute bug or butterfly! One that suits your style.

Next comes a little heart-shared jewel, which I have attached using dimensional magic. I have been told that this is not a glue, but I've stuck down all sorts of things, from chipboard to metal washers and have never had a problem.

Last, but not least, I've attached it to my page using some foam tape to add some dimension.

Voila! Embellished Circle number two. Easy-peasy!!

What in the world does she mean by Embellished Circles??!!

Well, let me explain....

This is an embellished circle. It is a circle that has been embellished. See! It really is easy-peasy!

In the next couple of weeks, while we are patiently awaiting the reveal of the Inspirational Team layouts, I will share with you different ways to embellish a circle. You will then have some ideas how you can embellish your own circles for January's challenge.

This particular one is a large one, but it will give you some ideas. I have used a Scenic Route journaling block as my base, which has been inked around the edges. Following the shape printed on this, I have added a line of dimensional magic to adhere some beads. I used my paper piercer to line them up as I went.

Next I cut a flower from a piece of Kaisercraft Cabbage Patch patterned paper. I placed a beautiful decorative conch from my stash in the centre. This was then attached it to the journaling block using foam tape to make it pop.

Voila! You now have your first example of an embelllished circle. Think buttons, beads, stamping, painting, sewing...the sky's the limit! Stay tuned for more inspiration in the next few days.

Please leave a comment if you have any questions or suggestions. Sami B-)

Easy-peasy!

I've just noticed that some of you are wondering about the embellished circles part of this month's challenge! Don't worry, it'll be easy. All will become clear when I reveal more tonight!

Busy here on the homefront, moving house (and states) in two weeks so days are pretty much hectic! I've got nights for blogging so watch this space......

January's Challenge...

Well, here it is! A new year and a new Scrapping Word Pictures challenge. To spice things up, this year we've decided to add a little twist to the challenges. Each month we will be featuring a technique or 'added extra'.

As usual, the challenges will be posted on the 1st of each month. The inspirational team challenges will still be posted on the 15th. To keep you inspired in between, we will showcase a technique that will be included in the month's challenge.

This month it is embellished circles! There's many ways you can do this and over the next couple of weeks we will give you some tips and ideas how to incorporate these into your challenge layout so watch this space.

Without further ado we present January's challenge!

Material list
2 x portrait photos 10x15cm
1 x patterned paper or cardstock 30x30cm for base
Journaling block
Patterned paper pieces:-
Paper A - 24x24cm
Paper B - 30x13cm
Paper C - 28x5cm
4 embellished circles approximately 5x5cm - our technique of the month!!!

Paper Placement
Take Paper A and place it centred and 2cm from the bottom of your base.

Add Paper B horizontally 1cm from the bottom of Paper A.

Paper C should be attached vertically, 2cm from right hand side of base. This is where your title should be placed.

Next, add your photos side by side to the top left hand side of the layout.

Your journaling block now goes under the photo on the left hand side.

Place one of your embellished circles in the bottom left hand corner of the layout.

The remaining three embellished circles should be added in between your journaling block and your title.

Have fun and make it your own!

Remember to e-mail your layouts in no later than the 31st of January to word.pictures@hotmail.com and please tell your friends!!! If, at any time, you have any questions or suggestions, please send us an email. We'd love to hear from you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We hope you all had a fun night seeing in the new year and have arrived safely in 2009 ready to scrap up a storm! We're ready here at Scrapping Word Pictures with some exciting things up our sleeves for this year.

Here's a couple more layouts for December's challenge. Don't forget that the deadline has been extended to midnight Sunday for those of you who still want to join in.
